Clongen Laboratories, LLC is a CAP-accredited GLP facility in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Our Clinical Diagnostics division offers an extensive testing menu composed of molecular biology and microbiology assays. Our test menu covers Tick-borne illnesses, Respiratory Infections, Gynecology, Systemic Infectious Diseases, Infectious Arthritis, Parasitic Infections, Viral Infections, and Fungal Infections. In our Contract Research division, we offer a wide range of services to biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical companies, government entities, and universities geared to assist in lot release testing as required by the FDA and other regulatory agencies.

We are seeking to hire candidates genuinely interested in gaining laboratory experience and learning more about the field of biology.

Responsibilities include:

DNA and RNA extractions from biological and non-biological samples
Real-time and conventional PCR assays
Gel Electrophoresis with gel imaging, labeling, and analysis
Technical writing – standard operating procedures and other laboratory documentation
Data analysis and documentation
Other laboratory tasks or assays as needed

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in the life sciences or another related field is required.
Proficiency in MS Office
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail, well-organized, and the ability to work independently
Desire to actively learn new information and laboratory skills
Prior Laboratory experience is preferred
Next-generation Sequencing experience is preferred but not required

The ideal candidate must have excellent office skills. Competency in using Microsoft Office is essential. Verbal and written communication skills are required. The job responsibilities include handling of incoming shipments, accessioning, handling of documentation, document archiving, assisting with billing and invoicing and other tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

Associate or bachelor’s degree in humanities or science is required with at least 1 year of work experience in an office setting.

Functions:

 Communicate and maintain quality plan.

1. Define and maintain QA/QC objectives, targets, and processes and review new targets, protocols, processes, equipment, supplies, and technologies for quality standards.
2. Write, review and maintain all standard operating procedures.
3. Implement the corrective action when necessary.
4. Assist in maintaining compliance with the College of American Pathologists (CAP) quality guidelines.
5. Assist in the process of maintenance of compliance with 6 states where the laboratory holds clinical laboratory licenses.
6. Establish QC/QA documentation procedures and monitor QA/QC performance on a variety of systems by gathering relevant data from electronic and hard-copy sources.
7. Assure proper qualification, maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and on-line test instruments.
8. Perform regular internal quality audits, recommend changes, and initiate corrective or preventative actions when appropriate.
9. Identify relevant quality related training needs and deliver training to personnel.
10. 11. Maintain the document control and versioning process.
11. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Project Management or Quality Management and/or Clinical Laboratory Management or

related field.

2. Minimum of three years post-graduate experience in a life science/research Quality Control or Quality Assurance clinical laboratory developing operational performance metrics and meeting performance requirements.
3. Prior experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Experience with a variety of laboratory quality management systems, e.g., CAP, ISO, and CLIA.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of one or more of the following topics: regulatory affairs in clinical laboratory, processing, storage, and/or shipping of biological specimens; managing and designing databases and inventories; knowledge with FDA regulations, United States Pharmacopeia guidelines, lot release testing, study audits, performing data checks; and/or document version control.
5. Ability to function independently and as a member of a team.
6. Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
7. Ability to train personnel on quality standards and practices.
8. Experience qualifying, maintaining and/or calibrating equipment strongly preferred.
9. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access, with experience with project management software and maintenance and development of electronic databases preferred
